Shelby Hawkins received a B.A degree in Religious Studies from Davidson College in North Carolina. She went on to graduate with an M.S. in Counseling from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.
Shelby began her professional career as a Physics and upper-level Mathematics teacher. In caring for her students, she recognized the impact family relationships have on the performance and emotional well-being of children and adolescents. She chose to concentrate during her Master’s education on family, marriage, and adolescent counseling. In addition to working with children and adolescents, Shelby has a passion for couples and marriages. She is Gottman Level 1 certified, a research-based approach to couples counseling. She uses a variety of strategies including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotional Focused Therapy (EFT), and Narrative Therapy when working with couples and children. Her passion is to see relationships reconciled and people experiencing the fullness of life.
Shelby was born and raised in North Carolina. She married her husband, Weston, in 2016, and the pair moved to Corpus Christi, Texas. In her free time, Shelby enjoys traveling, long-distance running, and exploring all Corpus Christi has to offer with her husband and their dog, Sadie.
