Melanie earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Texas Lutheran University in 2016. She went on to complete her Master of Science in Counseling with an emphasis in family, marriage, and couples from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi in 2019. Melanie is currently finishing her second year of the Counselor Education and Supervision doctoral program at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. She is also working on fulfilling her hours to become a Licensed Professional Counselor. Melanie has over three years of mental health experience working in community settings.
Melanie has experience working with families, couples, and individuals of all ages. She has had the privilege of working with individuals with ADHD, borderline personality disorder, relational and familial distress, trust issues, grief and loss, vocational problems, anxiety, and depression. Melanie is familiar with and utilizes a variety of approaches, including but not limited to, Bowen family systems therapy, the Gottman method, cognitive behavior therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and narrative therapy. Melanie is also passionate about incorporating play into therapy sessions with children. She believes that change is hard, and we are in charge of our own treatment. She also believes everyone has the capability to improve their life if they are willing to put in the work. Melanie feels very grateful to have the opportunity to help you begin your journey to a new you!
