Alicia earned her Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a concentration in Social and Personality Psychology and a stream in Mental Health and Well-being from Carleton University in Canada. She has worked as an office administrator for the top psychologist in Ottawa, Canada, and has also been a volunteer crisis counselor for different regions of Canada. She is now a student working towards her Master of Science in Professional Counseling from Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi.
Alicia’s goal as a counselor-in-training is to provide her clients with a safe space to be themselves without judgement. She hopes to empower her clients to live their best life and improve their holistic well-being. She enjoys working with students, adolescents, adults, and those from diverse ethnic backgrounds on topics like stress, relationships, depression, anxiety, life changes, and more. She intends to use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), while incorporating motivational interviewing and mindfulness-based techniques in her practice. Alicia believes that everyone deserves to be true to themselves and live a fulfilling life.
Alicia recently moved to Texas from Canada to pursue her master’s degree. Although born in Canada, she is a child of immigrants from El Salvador and India. Alicia is also a military spouse, daughter, sister, and dog-mom. She loves adventures, art, and finding beauty in the everyday things.
